Blood Sugar Levels

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, it is very important that you check your blood sugar levels regularly. Diabetes has become one of the most common diseases within the United States.  Almost one out of ten people in the United States have diabetes and the ratio continues to increase at a consistent rate.  Statistics show that men are more likely to develop diabetes, but women are not far behind!  Like I mentioned before, if you have been diagnosed with diabetes, it is important that you check your blood sugar levels on a regular basis.

Normal Blood Sugar Levels

Blood sugar levels can vary depending on the individuals health. If you are a normal, healthy person, before you eat, your range should be between 70 and 100 MPD.  Later in this article, I will discuss what your range will be if you are diabetic.

Some races are more likely to develop diabetes, although the reasons may be choice of diet rather than genetics.  Research shows that African-Americans are the most likely race to develop diabetes.  As you probably already know, it is important to check your blood sugar levels multiple times throughout the day to avoid issues.  As the disease has become more common through the years, the methods of checking your blood sugar levels have become simpler as well.   The best places that I have found to purchase testing equipment are Walgreen’s and Wal-Mart.

Diabetes is the starting point for a whole array of other diseases that you are probably familiar with.  Let me just name a few to show you how serious checking your blood sugar levels truly is:  Heart Disease, Stroke, High Blood Pressure, Blindness, Kidney Disease, Neuropathy, and Amputation.  This is some serious stuff people!

The fight against diabetes is a fight that affects everyone.  Not only do we suffer physical and emotional loss when it strikes someone close within our families, but it also hits each and every person hard financially.  If a loved one has been recently diagnosed with diabetes, it is important that you also learn how to check their blood sugar levels.  In 2010, the total cost of diagnosed diabetes reached just under $200 Billion.  Have you noticed your health care premiums increase in the past few years?  After reading this page, do you still wonder why the premiums increased?  If we do not make drastic changes in our lives, the numbers are only going to increase. I cannot stress how important it is to check your blood sugar levels on a regular basis to avoid the worst from occurring.

Diabetes – What are considered normal blood sugar levels?

If you are diabetic, your blood sugar levels can vary.   On the low end, your blood sugar levels can be between 60 and 65.  On the high end, your blood sugar levels can be between 180 and 200.

Where can I learn more about my blood sugar levels?

There are many organizations out there that help in the fight against diabetes.  Although the organizations are very useful and serve a great purpose, the true fight is fought within each one of us.  We are constantly marketed food on a daily basis which does our bodies major harm.  A lot of us, including myself, are almost addicted to the unhealthy food.  If we do not make a personal change in our own lives, we are at great risk of developing diabetes in the future. The organizations can only do so much in this battle.  At the end of the day, each person is responsible for their own actions.

This site is my contribution in the fight against diabetes.  Looking ahead, I think the statistics will increase over the next few years just as it has in the past.  In time, my goal is to offer as much useful information as I can on this site which will help you in your battle.  My first piece of advice, like I have mentioned above, is to check your blood sugar levels on a regular basis if you have been diagnosed with diabetes.

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with diabetes, please guide them to this site or you can also make a contribution to the American Diabetes Association.  I have posted a diabetes diet chart and you can view it at Blood Sugar Levels Diet Chart. The fight against diabetes will not be easy and it will not be fast.  We can win the battle if we all pull together and work as a team.  Be sure to check back on this site often as I will try to update it with useful information in a regular basis.  Thank you for your interest and good luck!  Oh, and for the tenth time, be sure you check your blood sugar levels on a regular basis!

Diabetes and Blood Sugar Levels

Diabetes and Blood Sugar Levels

When working to stay healthy, one of the most important things to keep in mind are your normal Blood Sugar Levels.  People often don’t think about blood sugar levels until they start having problems such as diabetes or other similar health problems.  When looking at overall health, many conditions and diseases can be affected by blood sugar levels so it is critical to keep an eye on this closely, before any problems occur.  By using a normal blood sugar levels chart you can see exactly where your levels should be.Once you know about your normal blood sugar levels you can easily start tracking your own levels by doing regular testing.  A blood sugar levels testing device is easy to get and simple to use.  Taking these numbers and recording them on a blood sugar levels chart will be extremely useful in learning about what types of foods causes your blood sugar levels to spike.  It will also provide invaluable information if you ever begin to have problems related to blood sugar levels since you can bring the blood sugar levels chart to your doctor to give them all the information possible so they can plan exactly what to do to help you. While most people who have seen or use a normal blood sugar levels chart understand that things high in sugar like candy or soda will make their levels go up, there are many other things which can do this as well. Many breads or grains are converted into glucose, or sugar, by the body when consumed so it is very possible that this type of food will also cause normal blood sugar levels to go up for a period after eating them.  Moving from white bread or other grains to whole wheat or whole grain can help prevent his problem.

Is It Possible To Maintain A Healthy Diet and Keep Normal Blood Sugar Levels?

Having a healthy diet is one of the most important things to do when attempting to maintain normal blood sugar levels. Eating lots of vegetables is very useful for most people but some vegetables can cause higher levels so keep that in mind.  Things like potatoes or even carrots can cause higher blood sugar levels so choosing other options may be wise if attempting to keep the levels lower.  Eating lean meats like chicken can also help you get the protein and nutrients you need without causing a problem with your blood sugar.  These things are not converted to glucose like many other foods are so they should not affect the levels nearly as much.

While diet is perhaps the most important thing to regulate when looking to keep normal blood sugar levels, it is not the only thing to consider. Exercise can also have a large effect on this type of thing.  Since when you exercise the body is burning up the food you eat to use as energy it can help regulate the levels.  One of the easiest things for your body to burn for energy is glucose, or sugar, so going for a run before or after eating a meal can help quickly burn off that sugar, preventing it from remaining in the blood longer than you’d like.

Many people who want a normal blood sugar levels chart will work to have a very healthy diet and exercise program.  This is truly the ideal way to get and keep normal blood sugar levels.  Having a good diet will help keep these levels from spiking up or dropping to low because of the different foods you eat.  With just a diet it is often easy to maintain even blood sugar levels but it is sometimes more difficult to lower them with just diet.  For that, exercise can help a lot.  Exercise helps to build up lean muscle and burn off fat which is critical for an overall healthy lifestyle.

Maintain Normal Blood Sugar Levels To Live A Healthier Life!

When you introduce regular exercise you will almost certainly see an overall improvement on your blood sugar levels chart because it allows your body to burn off the sugar as you consume it like the body is meant to do.  In the history of humans people have almost always had to work much harder than most people do today in order to survive.  Whether that was working hard on farms to grow the food needed or even running away from predators, we have a long history of being much more active than we are today.

It is only in the last few generations of people that more and more people have been working in jobs which don’t require them to exert lots of physical effort every day.  For this reason the body has adapted and evolved to burn off sugar quickly since it was constantly needed.  Now that many people no longer perform this physical activity it causes the blood sugar levels to go up significantly and the body is not nearly as good at regulating it over long periods.

This is why it is important for even healthy individuals to keep a blood sugar levels chart so they can manage these numbers more effectively.  Most people will agree that having the knowledge of their own body is very important and when you take the information on this chart and compare it with a normal blood sugar levels chart you can begin to take the necessary steps to improve your overall health.  Most people today are completely ignorant of their own levels so they don’t even know that they are putting themselves at much greater risk for many diseases from diabetes to kidney failure and many others as well.

For anyone interested in having overall health which can last for years and even significantly extend their life expectancy there is nothing better than keeping a blood sugar levels chart on their own levels.  Whether it is measured daily or weekly it makes it much easier to develop an effective diet and exercise program to help ensure the proper blood sugar levels are achieved and maintained for the life of each individual.  Getting ready to develop a healthy body should always begin with knowledge and this is the best way to get that knowledge.  I hope this article helps you maintain adequate blood sugar levels!
